Namefi Abuse Reporting Procedures and Contact Information

Namefi is an ICANN-accredited registrar. These procedures describe how to report abuse involving domains registered through Namefi, in accordance with RAA Section 3.18 and our Terms of Service.

Abuse Reporting Procedure

Submit a report: Email abuse@namefi.io.
Provide details: Include the affected domain names, type of suspected abuse, relevant URLs and timestamps, and evidence supporting the claim. Redact passwords, access tokens, unrelated personal data, and other secrets.
Confirmation: Namefi will confirm receipt of the report (RAA 3.18.1). Confirmation does not mean the report has been substantiated.
Investigation: Namefi will take reasonable and prompt steps to investigate and respond appropriately. Well-founded reports of illegal activity from designated authorities must be reviewed within 24 hours by a person empowered to act (RAA 3.18.3). This is not a promise to resolve every report within 24 hours.
Action: Where there is actionable evidence of DNS abuse, Namefi must promptly take appropriate mitigation action to stop or disrupt the abuse (RAA 3.18.2). Measures take account of the cause and severity of harm and potential effects on other parties. Depending on the circumstances, applicable agreements, and law, measures may include rejecting orders, restricting, suspending or terminating account access, suspending DNS resolution, or suspending or canceling affected domains, with required notice or correction opportunities. Immediate action may be taken where permitted or required.
Follow-up: Reply to the acknowledgment or reference your earlier report and the affected domains.

Types of Abuse We Address

DNS abuse under the RAA: Malware, botnets, phishing, pharming, and spam when used to deliver these forms of DNS abuse.
Other prohibited conduct under Namefi's Terms: Illegal activity, fraud, impersonation, unsolicited bulk messaging, and unauthorized collection or use of communications intended for previous domain owners. Accidental receipt of misdirected email is not, by itself, abuse.
Other reports: Rights-infringement claims and illegal content, including child exploitation, are handled under applicable law, contractual requirements, and the relevant dispute procedures. Website content complaints are not automatically DNS abuse under the RAA.

Namefi documents receipt of and response to abuse reports and retains the related records for the shorter of two years or the longest period permitted by applicable law (RAA 3.18.4).
