Chie Kudō

Chie Kudō (工藤 知恵) is a translator in her thirties, based in Fukuoka. She worked as a hardware QA engineer at an electronics maker, writing and checking product documentation, before moving into localizing technical and editorial writing between English and Japanese.

QA habits carry over: she is exacting about consistent terminology and about the details unique to Japanese typesetting — kanji versus kana versus romaji for a brand, half-width and full-width characters, and wasei-eigo that means something different from the English it borrows. She keeps a small balcony vegetable garden and boulders on weekends.
