Gong Ji-hye

Korean Localization Translator • Namefi

Gong Ji-hye (공지혜) is a translator in her thirties, based in Seoul and originally from Suwon. She spent her first career as a process engineer in a semiconductor fab — she literally helped make silicon — before moving into localizing technology and editorial content between English and Korean.

She translates for readers fluent in Konglish but tired of it where a clean Korean term exists, and she is careful about romanization, spacing (띄어쓰기), and the way a name looks in Hangul beside a Latin logo. Weekends mean hiking Bukhansan, pour-over coffee, and a backlog of webtoons.

For Namefi she localizes articles on domains and naming into Korean — weighing Hangul against romanization, the .kr namespace, and brand names that have to work in two writing systems at once.
