1. We are an ICANN-accredited registrar
Namefi is an ICANN-accredited domain name registrar. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) lists us as D3Serve Labs Inc. dba Namefi, IANA Registrar ID 4337.
Accreditation shapes this policy. To register or manage a domain name on your behalf, we are required by ICANN and by domain name registries to collect certain registrant data and to pass it on. That obligation is not something we can waive by agreement, and much of what follows is a consequence of it.
2. Information we collect
- Registrant and domain data. When you register, renew, transfer, or manage a domain name, we collect the contact details ICANN requires — including name, postal address, email address, and telephone number — along with the domain names and DNS records you manage through the Service. Your obligation to keep this data accurate and current is described in our Registration Agreement.
- Account and authentication data. Identifiers used to sign in, which may include an email address and a blockchain public-key account (such as an Ethereum address).
- Payment data. Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We receive transaction records — such as amount, status, and a limited card reference — but we do not collect or store full payment card numbers.
- Usage and device data. Standard technical information generated when you use the website, such as IP address, browser and device information, and log data, used to operate and secure the Service.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to provide and operate the Service, to register and manage domain names on your behalf, to authenticate you and secure your account, to process payments, to communicate with you about your domains and your account, and to comply with our legal and ICANN obligations, including responding to abuse reports and domain name disputes.
4. How we share it
We share personal information only as needed to run the Service or as required of us:
- Domain registries, registry operators, and upstream or vendor registrars, so that your domain registration can be created and maintained.
- ICANN and data escrow providers, as required by our Registrar Accreditation Agreement.
- Registration data directory services (RDDS/WHOIS). Some registration data may be published or disclosed through RDDS where registry or ICANN policy requires it. What is public versus redacted is determined by those policies and by applicable law, not solely by us.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf, such as payment processors, hosting, email, and analytics providers.
- Law enforcement, courts, and dispute-resolution providers, where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to respond to a UDRP, URS, or similar proceeding.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Blockchain data
Namefi uses NFTs and public blockchains for domain name management. Data written to a public blockchain — including wallet addresses and transactions — is public, permanent, and outside our control. We cannot edit or delete it.
6. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and measure usage. You can review and change your choices at any time through the “Cookie Settings” link in the site footer.
7. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, and longer where ICANN, a registry, or applicable law requires us to retain registration and transaction records.
8. Compliance with applicable local laws
We comply with applicable data protection and privacy laws in the jurisdictions where we operate. Where those laws give you rights over your personal information — such as the right to access, correct, or delete it, or to object to certain processing — you may exercise them by contacting us at the address below, and we will respond as required by the law that applies to you. Some registration data cannot be deleted on request, because ICANN and registry rules require us to retain it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date above reflects the most recent version, which is always available at https://namefi.io/privacy.
