Domain Appraisal (Valuation)

Estimating a domain's market value from comparable sales, keyword demand, length, and extension.

Domain appraisal (or domain valuation) is the process of estimating what a domain name would fetch on the open market. Appraisers weigh comparable sales of similar names, keyword search volume and commercial intent, character count and pronounceability, TLD strength (.com commands a significant premium over most alternatives), and current buyer demand in the aftermarket. Automated tools like Estibot and GoDaddy's appraisal engine produce algorithmic estimates, but experienced brokers and investors often rely heavily on hand-curated comps and market feel. A strong premium domain backed by solid comps can justify a five- or six-figure ask, while a brandable domain with no close comparables requires more subjective judgment. On Namefi, tokenizing a domain creates an immutable provenance record that can support transparent, on-chain pricing history — giving future appraisers a richer data set to work from.
