Domain Parking (Parked Domain)

Placing ads or a for-sale notice on an undeveloped domain to earn revenue or signal availability.

Domain parking is the practice of pointing an undeveloped domain to a page that displays pay-per-click ads, a search bar, or a for-sale notice rather than a full website. Owners park names to extract revenue while holding an asset they intend to sell, build on, or simply keep — turning an idle registration into a passive income stream. The revenue depends heavily on type-in-traffic: visitors who navigate directly to the URL rather than arriving via a search engine. A parking service typically splits PPC ad earnings with the owner and may also display a domain landing page that routes interested buyers to the aftermarket. With Namefi tokenization, a parked domain held as an on-chain NFT can be listed for instant sale or collateralized while still earning parking revenue in the background — separating monetization from ownership transfer and eliminating the manual coordination traditional parking requires.
